The Student Futures Programme is an exciting development to the careers provision at St. Julian's. This programme involves a team of careers and higher education advisors working collaboratively with pastoral staff to provide ongoing interactive and tailored careers and higher education, advice and guidance to all students in Secondary School.

Mrs Helena Blanchard
Student Futures Coordinator

I am very excited to be joining St Julians as the coordinator of the Student Futures team. My primary aim is to consolidate and build upon the current provisions to ensure that every student at our school has access to good quality, personalised and relevant careers and higher education information, advice and guidance. My long term goal is a careers exploration programme,
which begins in Year 7 and continues until the end of Year 13. This programme will give students the opportunity to actively explore and reflect upon their interests, skills, strengths and the various career-related opportunities available to them as they progress through secondary school. This will ultimately allow them to make informed choices at critical stages of their education, such as iGCSE and IB Diploma subject choices as well as decisions relating to post-school career progression.

Mrs Isabel Marques Taylor
Portuguese Universities Advisor

I work with students who want to apply for any course at a Portuguese University. In year 11 I advise with the choice of subjects that should be taken in the IB so that pupils do not have to take national exams, in year 12 I promote a University Fair where pupils can get to know the offer in Portugal and in year 13 I guide and support pupils with the whole application process. Throughout the entire process, I keep in contact with students and hold individual meetings regarding their areas of interest and helping them to choose an adequate Higher Education institution.

Mrs Christine Sousa e Sá
Universities Advisor

I work with students in Y9 and Y11 to advise them on subject options with a view to HE. In the IB, I am part of the team working with all students as they begin their initial HE research. I coordinate university visits and fairs, currently virtual, and develop the HE Website.I am the UCAS coordinator for UK applications, and support students in their personal research on HE options in Europe and N America, and eventual applications. This involves both independent work and 1:1 meetings with students and parents.

Mr Josh Tutton
Oxbridge Advisor

I work with students applying to Oxbridge. This includes: aiding students to develop their super-curricular activities in Year 12; helping students write their personal statements; helping to prepare students for entrance examinations; writing references; running mock interviews and offering a selection of guest speakers to talk on a variety of topics (for example, selecting a college).

Ms Hannah Bradley
Medicine applications Advisor

I support and guide students applying to study medicine in the UK and other countries. I have one on one meetings with students regarding their application as well as regular group meetings covering topics such as the application process, aptitude tests, ethics in medicine,
and writing personal statements. In year 13 I help to prepare students for interviews, including running individual and mock multiple mini interviews.
