Varsity Boys Football

Varsity boys football is back at St. Julian’s with great players and amazing plays. After a long time without competition, St. Julian’s host group A in two leagues and one final game.

Group A - SJS A, ParKIS, SDIS and SJS B
Group B- CAISL, DSL, OIS and SAIS

Monday afternoon the two St. Julian’s teams kicked off the 2022 tournament. SJS B showed great resilience, good skills and amazing team spirit. The team lost two games (SJS A and SDIS) and won ParKIS leading to 3rd position in the group. SJS A presented solid and mature football in the first and third games (SJS B and SDIS). However, in the second game, we lacked concentration and the ability to score goals resulting in a defeat for our team.

On Monday 4th April SJS A team met The German School of Lisbon (DSL) team at SJS for their final game of the season, both teams were excited about the prospect of being Tournament Champions 2022. After a challenging and apprehensive 10 minutes, the SJS pulled ahead with a cracking goal from Antonio Grincho which then sparked a goal from Lewis Harrison both in the first half. In the second half, Tomás Almeida ploughed through the goal box to score the third goal of the game. DSL raised their hopes scoring 1 goal in the second half but then suffered a home goal due to a communication issue between defence and goalkeeper. The overall score was 4- 1.

Overall, it was a good season and we are both proud and happy with all the players for their effort and commitment to the team.
Congratulations to all and Good luck to our Year 13 leavers, we hope you will continue to play football and represent your future Universities and clubs as well as returning in the future for our Alumni tournaments at SJS.
