Last week saw the annual celebration of science week and it was great to physically be in school for it this year.

Students across secondary got involved in a range of activities in and outside of lessons. The amazement at elephant’s toothpaste was only added to when we saw the impact of growth on the size of a heart with a calf and a bull heart being compared the very next day.

It was incredible to see the various science subjects coming together to celebrate, with Minecraft gardens being made in computer science, Dragon’s den competitions in D&T and KS3 v KS4 competitions in sport science. The library display also added something special with a display on what STEM actually means, and alumni profiles who have gone to work in these areas themselves.

The week finished with The Great Science Bakeoff, in which we had several delicious and creative entries. Winners will be announced this week, and prizes shared before Easter.

We are really excited to see the poster competition coming together, with entries from across the entire school. Watch this space for information on the winners…
