Lawson Plays showcase the Houses creativity
In this year's Lawson House plays the students performed Everyman. The concept of the Everyman originates from the 15th century. The character represents all of us who must make the journey towards death.
The entire project has been led by student house captains without support from teaching staff, with the idea of making each house team independently creative. Captains organized their own production teams to include a director, sound designer, stage manager, and actors representing a range of ages. Each house also had to supply its own costumes and include a live musical element.
The script was split into four parts, and each house randomly chose which they would be performing. Over the course of the four plays, we will learn the story of the Everyman.
Cassia and Madalena from Russell were awarded best directing. Bucknall took the ensemble prize. Each House was awarded an acting prize: Bucknall—Madalena , ES—Maria Constança , Franklin—Emerson, and Russell—Mariano. Russell was the overall winner.
