End of the year, togetherness whilst apart and hope for the future

We had a very different school year which tested all of us.  And as we look forward to celebrating the end of this strange year on Friday with a series of student assemblies and also our normal end of year staff ‘do’ - albeit all remotely, I would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the significant contributions of our leaving members of staff - some of whom have been with us for almost their whole teaching careers!

I would like to give a special mention to Sharon Pringsheim and Evelyn Bozonet who have collectively dedicated 65 years to teaching at St Julian’s. Their passion and dedication will have reached generations of alumni and current students and they will be very much missed from our community.

Moving onto pastures new is something that those in International education become used to but doesn’t make it any easier! We would also like to say a heartfelt thank you and até já (but not ciao!) to Tristan Swoffer (History), Livia Tamburrini (Art), Carmel Sharkey (Teaching Assistant), Sam Wilson (Year 5), Julie Hargrave (Economics and Business), Richard Sleeman (Maths) and Gail Howarth (Business). A celebration of their time with us is featured in our 2020 WINGS edition.

To the families who are leaving us we wish you the very best in your future educational journey for your children; safe travels and keep in touch!

For all of our families and students I would like to extend a very special thank you for your support during this challenging time. To our students: you have been the amazingly resilient, independent and creative learners that we always knew that you were. Thank you. To our parents: this year has been so very different to normal and we thank you for your tenacity in the face of these challenges, for working with us to ensure that your children have continued to learn and for your feedback that has allowed us to grow and to develop.

This year has tested all of us, has tested our togetherness and our resilience but I also believe that it has allowed us to reflect on the important things in life: appreciation for friends and time with family, the joy of working with others, and most importantly a strong hope for the future. With this hope, I passionately believe, we, together, can get through anything and I warmly look forward to welcoming all of your children back onto campus in the next academic year.

The next academic year will see us welcome some new teachers - please see link for details on the experiences and expertise that they will bring to St Julian’s.
