Moving forwards with our Strategic Plan

Our new strategic plan was launched at the start of the 2019-20 academic year and shared with parents in the first of our newly launched Parent Tuesday Workshops. Life has obviously changed considerably since then, but we have continued to focus on continuing to learn and grow as a school to ensure that high-quality student learning is at the heart of everything that we do. I have been reflecting recently on the need to share our progress and re-engage our community with our vision and the strategic direction that we are following.
We believe that student learning should be the driver for all change, and the lens through which all decisions are made; this is mirrored in the three overarching pillars of the strategic plan: Organisation Learning, Resources for Learning, Teaching and Learning. Each of these pillars has three strategic objectives, as seen in the diagram below:
Organisational Learning - A school where the organisation and leadership are focused on learning - with every adult and child growing and developing as individuals and leaders are developing their practice through reflection, coaching and mentoring within a strong leadership structure. Communication enables the St Julian’s community to be part of the learning journey of the organisation.
Strategic objectives - Clear guiding statements that reflect practice; Strong leadership structures and development programmes; A strong and engaged community.
Resources for Learning - A school where the environment (physical and technological) and staffing structures are designed to support learning and develop a St Julian's graduate. A strong professional learning programme is in place based on a culture of trust, sharing and experimentation with a systematic approach to professional growth that links need and a shared strategic direction.
Strategic objectives: Innovative learning environments and clear plans for campus development; Effective staffing structures that support learning; Staff are growing and developing within a strong professional learning culture.
Teaching and Learning - A school focused on creating a clear and shared language of learning that is modelled, encouraged and evaluated. The taught and wider curriculum is fit for purpose and allows students to develop the strong values and attributes of a St Julian's graduate. The learning and emotional needs of all students are met, enabling students to fully access all aspects of the curriculum.
Strategic objectives: Learning in the classroom reflects our pedagogy and enables our mission; Our curriculum meets our needs and is clearly articulated; Strong pastoral systems are in place to ensure well-being for all.
In this academic year, our focus has obviously also been on ensuring the health and safety of our community in addition to providing that we have a high-quality remote learning programme in place. We have reflected on our strategic plan to ensure that we focus on the areas, this year, that we feel will make the most difference and have placed some areas on hold, for now - click here to view the whole plan. We have continued to make progress with key areas of the plan - we encourage you to take some time to listen to our podcast series where, through key voices in the school, we aim to articulate our vision for the school and share the progress made to date. Do also take a moment to read the Primary, Secondary and Portuguese section reflection updates - each of which share our philosophy and progress with key areas that are linked to our strategic plan. Please also watch this space for the re-launch of our Parent Tuesday Workshop series, happening soon!
