Hello Everybody,

We're excited to introduce you all to our CAS Project, led by a group of Y13 students (Ross Harrison, Luigi Conversano, Joshua Shackleford & Lucas Hulten). The overarching aim of the project is to collect as many plastic bottle lids as possible. These include those from water bottles, milk cartons, juice cartons, etc. These will then be collated by us and used to gain credit for the purchase of medical supplies. In order to engage a wide collection pool, we are running the project across the school. From Monday 27th of September until Friday 1st of October, collection points will be present across the Primary and Secondary schools with clear labels regarding where to deposit the lids. Below are further details of the project:

Why are we doing this?

The family we are supporting through the project have 2 children, both of whom have been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and DiGeorge syndrome.  Luís Miguel, age 7, has a 92% disability and João Maria, age 4, has a 96% disability. This makes it difficult for both of them to lead the active lifestyles that many of us take for granted.

How do your contributions help?

The plastic lids are first donated to the family, who can, in turn, bring them to a recycling facility, where they can receive benefits including different types of therapy (speech/physical therapy) for their children, as well as any medicines they need, or any materials they need in general.

How can you help?

We will be setting up collection points around the school in both secondary school and in primary school to collect the plastic lids. We really encourage you to collect plastic lids you use at home and bring them into school to be put at the collection points, as the more lids we end up collecting altogether, the more we can help this family.
