St. Julian’s School had the honour of hosting our first ever in-school TOK Exhibition. Year 12 students had the slightly novel task of selecting and displaying three real-world objects that linked to a chosen knowledge prompt, examples of which were:

  • Are some types of knowledge less open to interpretation than others?
  • What challenges are raised by the dissemination and/or communication of knowledge?
  • Can new knowledge change established values or beliefs?
  • Is bias inevitable in the production of knowledge?
  • How can we know that current knowledge is an improvement upon past knowledge?

The students really rose to the challenge of the occasion - having chosen interesting objects that showcased their own passions and interests and being able to explain very clearly how they linked.

Thank you very much to teachers, parents and Year 11s who also attended to listen to students’ presentations and help them to refine and develop their arguments.
