Year 10 Students Conquer Challenging Expedition in Cascais for Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award
Out Year 10 International Award Bronze participants undertook their first expedition. It was a practice journey from the centre of Cascais into Quinta do Pisão to complete several navigational challenges before finding the Pedra Amarela campsite. The students had to cook their dinner, demonstrate their campcraft skills and prepare for the following day’s journey.
The second day’s journey was navigationally challenging and a physical test. Students often carried over-packed bags and had to reach the Sintra peaks of Monge and Peninha. That’s when the mist and rain came in. Some students were able to reevaluate their packing choices as they descended into Malveira.
Overall, the practice expedition was a huge success and gave the students a good understanding of the challenges they face in their upcoming qualifying journey!
