During remote learning, Years 5 and 6 have continued to develop wonderful artworks yet again.

Year 5 did a project called Happy City, which was specially chosen to inspire happiness inside the students' homes during the lockdown. The artworks they did show very well how much fun they had!

Year 6 did 2 projects inspired by two 20th century painters, one French, Jean Dubuffet and one Russian, Wassily Kandinsky! They also had fun enjoying the freedom of lines and patterns of abstract or modern art.

Please see the digital Art Galleries with the 3 projects:

Year 5: Happy City inspired by James Rizzi

The Happy City project was chosen to inspire happiness inside the student's homes despite the lockdown. This project was clearly a FAVORITE for the year 5 students, and the artworks they did show very clearly how much FUN they had!  The students had a presentation about the paintings of James Rizzi and had to create a city with buildings like if they were alive and happy. They added lots of details and coloured it with vibrant colours. For me it was the best project of the year!

Year 6: Kandinsky art project

The Year 6 students did an abstract painting inspired by Wassily Kandinsky! He is credited as the pioneer of abstract art! They looked at many Kandinsky paintings and created a drawing with some of the characteristics of the Kandinsky paintings like overlapping, repeating shapes, shapes inside shapes, shapes or lines going off the paper, big and tiny shapes. They coloured it with bright colours. The students learned that it can be liberating to create abstract art!

Year 6: Imaginative characters inspired by Jean Dubuffet

The year 6 students did another project inspired by a 20th-century painter, this time a French painter, called Jean Dubuffet! They had to draw an imaginative character imitating Dubuffet's style without bothering with proportions, sense of beauty, realism, enjoying the freedom of lines and patterns (and they had to give it a name!). This was another liberating project!
