The Power of Arts Education
Developing well-rounded students should be the purpose of any education; it certainly is at St Julian’s. The inclusion and prominence of the Arts in the curriculum is one of the many ways that this is achieved here at St Julian’s. The power of the arts to develop curious and creative thinkers and develop resilience, communication skills, and enhanced cognition is well documented. From the moment that I stepped into the school on my very first visits, the value placed on the arts shone out. In fact, in my first two visits back in 2017, I had the opportunity to watch both my first St Julian’s School play (Bugsy Malone!) and my very first Art exhibition. From Creative Arts days to Art exhibitions and, more recently, video arts, our fantastic team have ensured that the arts play an essential and integral part of our curriculum - even in lockdown times. We hope that you will enjoy reading about a selection of these in today’s Lighthouse.
