It is lovely to see the Foundation children back in school after the holidays and a week of remote learning. I have to thank all parents for working with your children during that week, as it is not always easy to make crowns, snow, and playdough at a moment's notice if you don't have the materials at home.

I think every parent agrees it is vital for their child's development to be in school. The best learning happens when the children are playing and working together, bouncing ideas off each other, exchanging opinions, exploring their curiosity, sharing resources, having staff nearby to scaffold the learning and support them when needed.

The photographs show children exploring the properties of ice, others sharing their discovery of the effect of wind, some building a rocket to go to space and a group discussing how to play with their trucks.

These years in Nursery and Reception are our youngest learner's first steps in becoming a St Julian's 'shaper - a compassionate, curious, collaborative communicator who above all has the courage to be an active citizen to make a difference in the world'.
