Recommended Resources to Tackle Exams Stress
Exams and tests are a part of academic life. During their time at school children often get used to the short end of unit tests or annual summative assessments in their class, but the jump to “big exams” can often cause anxiety both for students and their parents.
It is important to remember that tests and exams are part of academic pathways and most children will experience many of these throughout their education. Even as professionals, some may continue to take tests or exams throughout their lives. So we need to ensure that we are preparing our children for these experiences and setting them up for success.
As we head towards our external exam season we thought it might be good to look at what support and advice are out there for students but also for parents and carers who are undoubtedly feeling that they too are under exam pressure this summer term.
If you missed the workshop that our secondary counselling team offered last term we are sharing a link here to a recording made of the session.
The learning platform “Creative Education” also provides a great short course called “Exams and assessment: 10 Things Parents and Carers Need to Know”. If you still haven’t subscribed to your household Creative Education account, there is still time. Please see the letter 9th October - on the Parent Portal to find the subscription information.
