On Tuesday afternoon, the very excited children in year 2 set off for a walk around Carcavelos to look at the local geographical features to support their topic "Where in the world?" Developing map skills is part of the Year 2 Geography curriculum.  Given the final destination was Santini, the children were very engaged when asked to plan a route on a map and look for features on the way.

On the walk, the children noticed the original Quinta gate posts, trains and the station, schools, shops, church, and park, but the highlight was finding Santini's, where each child ordered an ice cream of their choice which they then enjoyed eating.  This resulted in some sticky fingers and faces but did not spoil the afternoon at all.
