Year 4 Portuguese Language Students Learn About Inspiring Careers
Our students had a chance to practise their Portuguese skills while getting to know Eunice and Dulce, asking them everything from their favourite foods to more complex questions about social service and the importance of cleaning staff in a school.
Eunice has worked as a social worker for over ten years and shared her experiences in coordinating the "Ubuntu" project in her school and helping diagnose and support students and families in need. She shared with the students the challenges and rewards of her work and how social service is essential in supporting students from less privileged backgrounds.
Dulce, who is responsible for the hardworking team that keeps our school clean and tidy, shared the importance of her work and the challenges of leading a team of 24 professionals for a school of over 1500 students and staff. The students quickly came to the realisation that they, too, have a responsibility to ensure that St. Julian's remains well-maintained. In the end, Dulce revealed her dream of becoming a nursery teacher one day.
The Year 4 students not only got to learn about these fascinating careers, but they also had the opportunity to practise their language skills and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. We thank Eunice and Dulce for sharing their time and experiences with us.
