As is the annual Christmas tradition in the Spanish Department, our IB Spanish students entered the Christmas spirit early by preparing Christmas cards and messages of goodwill for children living in an orphanage in Guatemala. In their messages, our students encouraged the children to aim high and follow their dreams, as well as wishing them a Feliz Navidad and best wishes for the new year. The children of the Hogar Miguel Magone (on the outskirts of Guatemala City) have come to regard this as a Christmas tradition, and they cherish the heartwarming messages they receive from our students.

Students also made a small Christmas collection for our department's sponsored child Oscar, one of the 86 children living in the orphanage. The funds raised for him this Christmas time will go towards a new pair of shoes and/or some new clothes. Included are some photos of our students' hard at work, as well as images from last year's Christmas cards that were received at the orphanage, together with a special message of thanks from Oscar.

An enormous GRACIAS to our students and wishing them all a very ¡Feliz Navidad!

Mrs Claire Sousa, Head of Spanish
