Celebrating Language of the Month in Primary
At St. Julian’s School, we are very proud of the rich cultural and linguistic diversity in our community. To celebrate this, we have a ‘Language of the Month’ in school where children can learn words and phrases from each other’s languages. We believe that a school environment that values linguistic diversity will intrinsically help students view issues from a global perspective and prepare them for both personal and professional opportunities in the future.
What languages have we been celebrating this year? - Perhaps you can identify the four languages used above to find out.
Last term, we were lucky to have students from Year 13 visiting some of the Key Stage One classes and reading stories like The Little Red Hen in Italian and The Hungry Caterpillar in German.
This month, we are celebrating the Russian language. Did you know that approximately 300 million people worldwide speak Russian and that Russian was the first language to be spoken in space?
Next month, we are looking forward to celebrating Chinese and sharing the traditions around Chinese New Year.
