Preparing our Year 6 students for the transition from Primary to Secondary is very important, so to kick off the process, last week, some of the Y7 buddies led a carefully planned assembly for the Year 6 cohort.

Each group explained some of the exciting changes that the students will encounter as they move into Year 7, as well as some really helpful hints for being ready and prepared.

The information focused on:

  • Getting to know the secondary school
  • Friendships
  • New subjects and lessons
  • Being organised and independent

From remembering to charge their school iPads each evening, explaining the school locker system and being more prepared by checking Google Classroom "To Do's" lists, the Year 7 students shared their knowledge and wisdom.

As we move into the Spring and Summer terms, we will continue to work with our secondary colleagues and Head of Year 7 to plan a transition programme which allows the Year 6 children to feel more equipped and comfortable to embrace the exciting new challenges of Year 7!
