Year 3 Trip to the Egyptian Light and Sound Exhibition
This was staged in the old aqueduct building, which provided the most fabulous architectural background for the children to add to their learning about Ancient Egypt. This topic has genuinely captivated the children, and they were very excited to see facts and images that they had learnt about in class being projected in enormous technicolour onto the walls and ceiling of this beautiful building. Below us was the huge body of water that only added to the ambience, and with background music interspersed with amazing facts, the whole experience was truly immersive.
The children were challenged to retain something new that they had not yet discovered in class and use that knowledge back in the classroom as part of their inquiry-based project work; They were also encouraged to facilitate and drive their own learning by using a variety of sources including books, information pamphlets and online platforms so this was a unique secondary source to add to that learning experience. Our Year 3 were truly enthralled, and this was reflected in excellent behaviour and great participation throughout. The trip was completed by eating lunch in the beautiful park adjacent to the aqueduct before making our way back to school. Everyone agreed that it had been an excellent trip, and the children were all super ambassadors for St Julian’s school.
