SJS Celebrated Asian Heritage Week
This week, we were fascinated to hear from many members of our community who discussed their heritage from various parts of Asia. Our school is a richer, more exciting place when every member of our community can openly share their stories, and this was certainly the case this week.
We are particularly grateful to Yuan Dong and her colleagues at CLAN, who guided us through a beautiful Chinese tea ceremony and calligraphy workshop. We were able to explore the tremendous diversity of cultures within Asia and our own school as we heard from Jessica, Aoife, Lara, and Ilina. They told us about what they feel is most special about their backgrounds in China, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, and India/Singapore, respectively. We also heard from Javhlan about the rich history of Mongolia.
Finally, we are grateful to all our students for their curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the week. We hope that every member of our community feels that they can share their background and identity proudly at St. Julian’s.
Happy Asian Heritage Week, everyone.
