Year 10 Electives Launch

This year, some students in Year 10 are being offered the opportunity to widen their interests and skills beyond the curriculum. The Electives have been developed by secondary teachers and reflect a special passion which they hope to pass on to students. Staff have also identified parts of the Shaper Profile that can be developed through different electives. Students will be able to direct their own learning under the guidance of teachers whilst reflecting on their learning and developing skills that will aid learning now and in the future. 

The first round of electives begins this week and will last until December when students will be able to choose a new elective for the second round. The full range is shown below along with an indication of the part of the Shaper Profile which teachers will shine a light on.

The final outcome of each elective will be an exhibition of learning in which students are invited to show the products of their endeavours, but also to discuss the journey of their learning through the elective. This latter aspect is enabled by continuous reflection on the experience of the electives leading to metacognition of skills and attributes.
