SJS Girls Enjoyed a Day of Fun With Sporting's Football Teams
A very special event was held on Tuesday, May 2nd, at SJS! We were delighted to welcome The SCP Women’s Football Team to the school along with a number of SCP’s youth players and coaches. Also most important was the appearance of Jubas, the SCP mascot! Very popular with the girls!
The event was really exciting for over 40 SJS girls who took part. Our girl’s football teams are really flourishing, and this was a great experience to be trained by the SCP players and coaches. The sessions gave our girls a taste of what it is like to train at a top club, and they had a lot of fun!
Matches then took place with mixed teams of SJS and SCP juniors. Seeing that our girls didn’t look out of place in such a company was great. Well done, girls!
The SCP senior players were fantastic examples to our girls; their enthusiasm and passion showed through their interaction with everyone. It was a wonderful, inspirational experience and something the girls will talk about for years!
Thank you, to Sporting Clube de Portugal, and a special thanks and gratitude to Ximenes Abreu, for seeing the potential in the girls and creating the introductions for us with SCP.
We hope this will become an annual event.
Thanks to the Girl's football coaches who have helped to inspire the teams to continue practising football this year, such as Coach Barry Green, Mr Stimpson, Miss Dunne, Mr Hughes, Fred Braga and recent addition Lucinda Puddicombe. To Maxine Small and the PE department’s help for SJS’s organisation of the event. Thanks to all of the ground staff and catering team for their support. Our sessions will continue on Tuesday evenings until the end of the term.
