To celebrate the Chinese New Year, visitors to the Foundation area may have spotted some dragons wandering the corridors, alongside displays of vibrant red lanterns and intricate cutouts adorning the walls.

In the Lower Primary and Foundation classes, students were busy creating lanterns and dragon streamers, painting red banners, and crafting red envelopes. They've also been captivated by the tale of the Great Race, which determined the order of the animals in the Chinese Zodiac. This year, according to the Zodiac, is the Year of the Dragon!

In Key Stage Two, two teams of keen students demonstrated clear collaboration to plan and prepare an assembly for each of their phases: Lower Key Stage Two and Upper Key Stage Two.

Displaying great courage and communication skills, they delivered their assembly to a rapt audience. This involved sharing the types of traditions that they celebrate with their own families during this special celebration. The origin of the Lunar New Year was explained, alongside the types of food that are eaten during this celebration and which years represent the animals of the Chinese zodiac.

There was even some Mandarin learning that took place as we all learnt how to count to ten! We are very proud of the brave students who chose to be involved!
